Festival attendees carving pumpkins at the farm. |
We had an incredibly successful festival this past weekend - there were around 200 people in total who came out and had fun at the farm, over 20 volunteers who were running around, selling veggies and cider, giving tours and generally making sure the day went smoothly, and three different news networks out taking pictures or video!
ArtStart volunteer facilitating a community mural - thank you to Dulux Paints Edmonton for sponsoring the project! |
We partnered up with E4C's ArtStart to create a giant community mural which will be mounted on the side of our volunteer-built shed! Kids, youth, and adults alike added their brush strokes to this huge painting of Prairie Urban Farm through out the four seasons.
Kevin Jones, Michael Granzow, and Lee Foote performing for us at the festival! |
We had a fantastic musical line-up at the farm which included some of the farm's very own Lee Foote, Kevin Jones, and Michael Granzow, as well as our special musical guest Jesse Northey from Jesse and the dandelions.
Razzle making balloon farm animals for kids at the festival. |
Razzle, roving entertainer and clown, dazzled our young guests with bubbles, juggling, and balloon farm vegetable and animals!
We had so many of our awesome volunteers come out to facilitate our activities! We had pumpkin carving, painting the art mural, and roasting marshmellows for s'mores!
Volunteers roasting marshmallows by the fire! |
Our volunteers also ran our "Pay what you can fresh produce stand!" where we were selling potatoes, parsnips, kale, carrots, beets, leeks, and squash!
And the farm's local representative Councillor Michael Walters came out to say a few words on urban agriculture within Edmonton! |
Thank you to all of our amazing volunteers who helped make today a success and thank you to everyone who came to the festival to celebrate our season with us. We hope to see you out next year!
